TalenaVita: “Northern Star” sparkled over Vitebsk
Open Championship in figure skating “Northern Star” was held on April 14 and 15 in Vitebsk within the framework of the program on support of young talents in science and sports TalenaVita. More than 160 young sportsmen from Belarus, Russia, and Lithuania took part in the tournament.
The legendary sportswoman, Olympic champion in ice dancing Natalia Bestemianova was the honorary guest of the tournament. Natalia took part in the solemn opening of the competitions, assessed the level of organization of the tournament and the training of young athletes. The first day of the tournament ended with a creative meeting of the legend of figure skating with young athletes and coaches, as well as fans of her talent.
Within the framework of the championship “Vitebsk Regional Federation of Figure-skating” and Regional public organization “Moscow Regional Federation of Figure-skating” have signed agreement on cooperation. Svetlana Golovkina, the chairperson of the “Vitebsk Regional Federation of Figure-skating” association, noted that cooperation with representatives of the Russian school, which is the world’s leading figure skating school, will, first of all, solve the problem of coaching staff.
Open championship “Northern Star” is held in Vitebsk for the second time considering the European experience of organizing such tournaments in two categories of complexity – A and B. All participants are divided into six age groups – from 2010 year of birth and younger to juniors not older than 19 years. The international team of arbitrators with experts from Belarus, Latvia and Russia judged the tournament.
Extensive cultural and entertainment program was organized in the Ice Palace of Vitebsk for the guests of the tournament, fans and admirers of figure skating.
